Founded in 1945, Troop 80 is home to an incredible amount of history, traditions, and activities that carry on today. From the original 16 scouts, the Troop has remained a medium to small sized group. Our modest size allows us to take advantage of unique camping experiences, provides flexibility and gives our Scouts personal attention based on their specific interests and advancement goals. A large troop can be overwhelming for some boys, so we provide an alternative experience.
We try to balance traditional outdoor camping at area ranches or state parks with destination camping at fun locations such as NASA, Marfa/McDonald Observatory, Battleship Texas and Enchanted Rock. Our goal is to spark interest in science, business and artistic fields that appeal to many of our Scouts. We do monthly campouts September – November and January – April.
We would love to have you join us for one of our meetings to see what being in Troop 80 is all about! Meetings are on Tuesday nights during the school year from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Bell Center at Highland Park Presbyterian Church, 3821 University Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75205. We are one of the only troops in the area that meets on a night other than Monday. Our first meeting of the 2023-2024 school year will be on Tuesday, September 12th.
