TROOP 80 INFORMATION

Troop 80 is a boy-run troop with a membership of approximately 45 scouts and 52 adult leaders.  Troop 80 meets on Tuesday nights at Highland Park Presbyterian Church (details on home page).  The troop camps monthly except during the summer when we offer a week long summer camp experience and an opportunity to attend a high adventure program.  Troop operations typically extend from late-August through late May.  The majority of campouts are two-night campouts - we leave Friday evening and return Sunday.  In September, in order to teach the Scouts the art of choosing a campsite (during daylight) and in order to get them used to camping, we sometimes hold a one-night campout.

Visitors are welcome to any Troop meeting and on any campout.  Simply contact the Scoutmaster to advise him of your desire to visit (details of SM phone and e-mail on home page).  Troop 80 accepts Scouts any time during the year extending from an age group of 10 with Arrow of Light award from Cub Scouts (11 if no AOL) to 18 years of age.

The troop operates using the patrol method and is led by a Senior Patrol Leader and several Patrol Leaders.  The adult corps of volunteer Scoutmasters and the Troop Committee spend their time facilitating the program designed by the Scouts.  Troop 80 Scouts proudly wear the Boy Scout uniform to meetings, and events.  The troop participates in a variety of experiences from community service to church activities in support of our sponsor, to the traditional experiences of developing character and leadership in young men through the outdoors.  Please feel free to join us in Scouting at any time.
